Mary Scheer and me at the East Texas Historical Association Meeting, Beaumont,
February 18-20. 2016 |
This week I attended the meeting of the East Texas Historical Association in Beaumont. While there, Mary Scheer and I posed for this picture. We have coedited a book of readings entitled "Texas Identities: Getting Beyond Myth, Memory, and Fallacy in Texas History." This book will be published later this year by the University of North Texas Press. It contains seven essays, each written by an expert on the topic. All of the contributors to his volume hold an MA in History from Texas State University. As well, each of them went on to further graduate study and holds a Ph.D. in Texas history. This picture will be the author's photo for the cover of the new book. While at the meeting I also had a chance to visit with my friend Bill O'Neal, who is currently serving as the official historian of the State of Texas.
